Our Programs
We have made significant strides in mobilizing youth for sustainable development across the continent. We have engaged with diverse communities, facilitated impactful projects, and fostered a generation of young leaders committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Students for Sustainable Development Goals (SSDGs)
SSDGs is a youth-led initiative designed to engage students in promoting and implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their schools and communities. The program encourages students to identify local challenges related to the SDGs and develop innovative solutions to address them.
Through training, resources, and mentorship, students are empowered to make a tangible impact in their communities, becoming active agents of change in the pursuit of sustainable development.
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
Africa for SDGs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI), is leading efforts to integrate Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into the national education framework. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to innovate and create a sustainable future. Through ESD, students are exposed to sustainability concepts and encouraged to apply entrepreneurial skills, such as those learned through the AGILE program, to real-world challenges.
Through ESD, students are exposed to sustainability concepts and encouraged to apply entrepreneurial skills, such as those learned through the AGILE program, to real-world challenges. Schools like Alliance Girls High School have actively participated, showcasing student-driven initiatives that promote sustainability and global citizenship.
SDG16 Fellows Program
The Africa for SDGs SDGs16 Fellowship is a prestigious program that selects young African leaders passionate about driving sustainable development in their communities. Fellows receive training, mentorship, and resources to implement projects aligned with the SDGs, particularly SDG16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
An example of the program’s success is Lennox Omondi, who, after joining the fellowship, founded Ecobana—a company that recycles waste materials into valuable products. His journey from fellow to successful entrepreneur and CEO illustrates the profound impact of the fellowship in empowering young African leaders to create sustainable solutions for their communities.
AGILE for ESD
AGILE for ESD is an innovative program that combines the principles of Agile methodology with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). This program empowers students to engage in iterative, collaborative learning processes that enhance their ability to tackle sustainability challenges effectively. Through AGILE for ESD, students develop entrepreneurial skills, participate in exchange programs, and gain global perspectives, all while contributing to sustainable practices within their schools and communities.
Alliance Girls High School serves as a model for the program’s success, with students actively branding merchandise and participating in global exchanges that broaden their understanding of sustainability issues.
