The 2024 Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Exchange Program in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, brought together representatives from over 10 Africa for SDGs university and college chapters across Kenya, marking a significant milestone in our collective journey toward sustainable development.
Highlights of the Program
The exchange program was a vibrant hub of collaboration, innovation, and learning. Students and young leaders gathered to exchange ideas, form meaningful partnerships, and explore solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges. Through a series of interactive sessions, workshops, and cultural experiences, participants gained:
- Essential Knowledge on sustainable development goals (SDGs) and their practical applications in various communities.
- Skills for Impact, including project planning, advocacy, and community engagement.
- Values of Global Citizenship, fostering empathy, inclusivity, and a sense of shared responsibility for the planet.
A Network of Change-Makers
This exchange didn’t just empower individuals; it built a strong, continent-wide network of proactive global citizens. By creating connections across regions and disciplines, participants left with both the tools and the support system to implement impactful initiatives in their communities.
Looking Ahead
Armed with fresh insights and reinforced commitments, these young leaders are ready to take bold steps toward addressing local and global challenges. From tackling climate change to promoting education and social equity, their work will be guided by the principles of the SDGs.
